More Pictures Of The 'Unlivable' Accommodation Inside The Rio Olympic Village

Dear me.

As we saw earlier in the week, the accommodation inside Rio's Athletes' Village were on par with, if not worse, than university halls after Fresher's week.

In fairness, the apartments where the athletes are expected to stay aren't quite finished, but they really do need to get a shimmy on.

Now, more pictures have emerged from inside the accommodation and it's a grim sight for anyone who'll have to stay in them.

The Daily Mail posted the images of the rooms which have led to complaints from the Australian team among others.

On Monday, athletes who were already at the village reported blocked toilets, leaking pipes and dirty floors. After this, and following officials deeming the apartments 'uninhabitable', the Australian Olympic team have said that they may boycott the village, according to the Mail.

After a series of tests on the electricity, plumbing and gas revealed various problems, Australian Olympic boss Kitty Chiller decided that none of her team members would be staying in their allocated accommodation.

"Water came down walls, there was a strong smell of gas in some apartments and there was 'shorting' in the electrical wiring," she said. "We have been living in nearby hotels because the village is simply not safe or ready."

Rio 2016 communications director Mario Andrada feels disappointment at the fact that athletes and teams think the apartments aren't up to their standards.

She said: "We have 630 men working 24 hours a day to fix problems in the Olympic Village and to deliver flawlessly before the end of the week, probably on Thursday.

"We are not ashamed of what has happened, but we are sad that not all the athletes have found the accommodation to their liking."

The 2016 Olympics start next week. Let's hope they're sorted by then.
