A Trump Employee Has Taken The Blame For Melania Trump’s Plagiarised Speech

At least she's honest.

By now you've probably seen the video of Melania Trump completely ripping off a speech Michelle Obama gave in 2008.

Side by side, the speeches seem identical, and someone even took the time to put Melania's through a plagiarism checker.

Now, an employee of Trump's has come forward to supposedly take the blame for the copied speech.

In-house staff writer Meredith McIver wrote in a statement that it was her doing.

She said: "A person [Melania Trump] has always liked is Michelle Obama.

"Over the phone, she read me some passages from Mrs. Obama's speech as examples. I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech."

McIver admitted that she didn't bother to check how similar the quotes were to what Michelle Obama said in 2008.

After the incident she offered her resignation to the Trump family, but it was ultimately rejected.

"Yesterday, I offered my resignation to Mr. Trump and the Trump family, but they rejected it.

"Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences."

I suppose all exposure is good exposure, but in this case? Surely not.
