Scientists Claim Men With 'Dad Bods' Are Sexier To Women And Live Longer

The best scientists in the world.

Good news for dads and anyone who says yes to that fourth tinnie on a Wednesday night all over the world: the 'dad bod' is more attractive to women and even extends your life expectancy.

A scientist has claimed older dads with a podge and love handles are better at passing on their genes, compared to skinny ones.

Richard Bribiescas, a professor of anthropology at Yale University, says in his book 'How Men Age: What Evolution Reveals About Male Health and Mortality', that putting on weight after fatherhood strengthens the immune system and, in the long run, makes you less likely to suffer from heart attacks or prostate cancer, as reports The Telegraph.

Furthermore, a 2008 study found men with high metabolisms were 50 percent more likely to die in a given year than those without.

Hmm, this is too much. Image: PA

"Macho makes you sick," Bribiescas said. "The Hollywood image of the swaggering, dashing man dispatching bad guys and carrying the day conjures up a perception of indestructibility.

"While men are on average larger and physically stronger than women, men have a considerable weakness.

"We have a harder time fighting off infections and illness compared with women, and... men simply do not take care of themselves.

"This has a significant negative impact on the pace at which men age."

It also makes you a better dad and that, in turn, could make you more attractive:

"This change in body composition not only causes men to shop for more comfortable trousers but also facilitates increased survivorship and, hypothetically, a hormonal milieu that would more effectively promote and support paternal investment." At least that's what we think he's trying to say.

Never knew taking care of yourself meant skipping the gym every day. Who would have known? I'm sure there's plenty of scientists who disagree with Richard and his revelations, but screw them, I'm with him.

If Leonardo DiCaprio does it, then maybe we should too. Get the fucking pints in.
