The World's Biggest Lad? It Might Just Be Adele

There's a good chance that if even you don't like Adele's music, you like her as a person. It's hard not to: she's come from humble beginnings in Tottenham to representing us on a whole plethora of stages across the pond, while still maintaining her roots personally speaking.

Last night at the Grammy's, she picked up Album of the Year and ended up dedicating it to Beyonce, who she argued was the deserving nominee.

"'I can't possibly accept this award and I'm very humbled and I'm very grateful but the artist of my life is Beyoncé. This album to me, the Lemonade album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul-baring," the Send My Love singer said.

"The way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is so empowering. I love you. I always have and I always will."

After the cameras went off, Adele apparently broke her award in half in hopes of physically sharing it with the singer.

Imagine anyone else doing that. Not to get up my own arse too much but there is something intrinsically more relaxed and "cool" about the British. Adele personifies it.

To be fair, she's a lad. I'm not saying Adele has a penis or anything. She evokes the one-day-at-a-time, selfless, laughs >>>>>, approach to life that your stereotypical lad does.

SHE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT "THE SUITS"

Remember back in 2012 when she got cut short during her acceptance speech at the Brit Awards by James Corden and ending up flipping the finger to those in charge? Banter.

Adele doesn't give a fuck. She was asked to make way for Blur, who if I remember had accepted a lifetime recognition award or something that night, and was quite rightly pissed off.

None of us like long, dreary, political acceptance speeches but Adele - the working class hero she is - was simply thanking her family and fans. Looking back, I'd have rather heard more of that than Damon Albarn's wailing voice, regardless of me being a Blur fan.

SHE'S UP FOR A LAUGH

Putting on a fake chin, a fake nose and a wig for banter is what Ant and Dec do on Saturday Night Takeaway. It's not what you'd expect from, essentially, a ballad singer.

But that's exactly what Adele did last year, for a BBC special in which she disguised herself as an Adele impersonator among a bunch of other mimics.

Adopting the reserved, slow-speaking manner of "Jenny", Adele went out and sang "To Make You Feel My Love" to a tee after pretending to fluff her lines from nerves.

The reactions from the others were priceless.

Other celebrities often do this sort of thing but arguably under strict conditions and for a big wage.

However, you can imagine Adele doing it free of charge. No-fucks-given.

SHE'S UNAPOLOGETICALLY HERSELF

Do you know which YouTube video was the most watched in 2016? Damn Daniel? That water bottle flip? The guy showing what's inside a rattlesnake's rattle?

I'll give you a clue: it was an edition of James Corden's Carpool Karaoke.

J-Lo? One Direction? Nope. It was Adele.

I can only hazard a guess and say the reason it notched 138 million views by the end of last year was because people simply like watching Adele being Adele, cause she laughs like a person sat in front of the telly, and talks as freely as a slightly tipsy Auntie at a get-together.
