When Pasquale 'Pat' Brocco, 31 was warned by doctors that his weight, combined with high blood pressure and cholesterol, was putting his life at serious risk, he decided to do something about it.
Brocco returned home from the eye-opening doctor's appointment and took a photograph of himself in the mirror. This became his motivation to shed the pounds and lose weight.

Tipping the scales at 605lbs, his stomach was down to his thighs. Too big to take on a heavy regime, he had to start small.
Brocco decided little and often was best. Every time he was hungry he would walk to and from the closest Walmart which was one mile away, reports ABC News.

Although it doesn't sound like that much, it actually had a profound impact on his weight. Two years later, he had lost 200lbs.
"You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking six miles," he said. "It's amazing because I never walked six miles in my life, and I was doing it every day."

With a little exercise, combined with eating healthily, the results started to show. Brocco introduced vegetables, meats, sweet potatoes, quinoa and steel-cut oatmeal into his diet and took out the foods he learned over time were shackling his efforts. His diet before and after fighting the pounds shows a stark contrast.
Before weight loss (about 11,200 calories per day):
Box of cereal
1/2 gallon whole milk
1 package peanut butter cups
1 candy bar
12-inch meatball and cheese submarine sandwich
100 fast food chicken nuggets
1 fast food apple pie
1 fast food milkshake
2 litres soda
4 doughnuts
After weight loss (about 2,250 calories per day):
2 gallons water
About 20 egg whites
1 cup oatmeal
24 ounces chicken breast
Green beans
6 ounces ground lean bison
32 almonds
1/2 sweet potato

"Once I figured out dairy was my downfall, I took it out of my diet, and instantly I started losing weight," he said.

After time, Brocco upped the ante and evolved his walking to the shops into incline walks on the treadmill at a gym. He started lifting weights and getting to grips with gym equipment.
After shedding the weight, Brocco had to have 30lbs of excess skin removed. He has gone from being nicknamed 'Fat Pat' to being 'Possible Pat', which he hopes will inspire those most dear to him.
"I'm setting an example for my [one-year-old] son so he can be 'Possible Pat' too," Brocco said.
