Student With Depression Writes Heartbreaking Final Social Media Status

So tragic.

A young man who battled with severe depression left a heartbreaking public note on social media before his death, an inquest has revealed.

His grieving family, who travelled up from their home in Leeds for the hearing, had no idea about 21-year-old Niall Paraskos' depression as he did not want to 'burden' them, the Chronicle Live reported.

He sought help from counsellors and his doctor, but after feeling they and the medication he was prescribed were not helping, he turned to buying drugs online in the hope they would help him to complete the final months of his three-year degree at Northumbria University.

The coroner ruled that it was inappropriate to record a verdict of suicide, after he was found to have taken MDMA before falling off Armstrong Bridge in Newcastle.

Pathologist Dr Clive Bloxham said it was possible the levels of ecstasy in his system could have caused his death had he not fallen.

Prior to his death mental health workers did not consider him an any immediate risk of suicide as he denied continuing to have those feelings. After the inquest his flatmates Emily, 22, Sam and Georgie, both 21, said retrospectively they wished there have been a more active intervention.

Niall's death devastated his family and his mother Rosemary said: "I'm not the same and I never will be."
