Wise words.

Depression is an ugly problem, an unseen disease that people can often spend a long time trying to fight without any help or support whatsoever.

Removing the stigma from mental health issues and actually talking to people about your problems is half the battle but one that can be won.

World-renowned scientist Professor Stephen Hawking usually spends his time providing the world with complex theories about space and time but during a lecture for the BBC at the Royal Institute in London, provided some incredible advice to those suffering with depression.

During the lecture, he said: "The message of this lecture is that black holes ain't as black as they are painted. They are not the eternal prisons they were once thought.

"Things can get out of a black hole both on the outside and possibly to another universe. So if you feel you are in a black hole, don't give up - there's a way out."

The speech was given in front of a crowd of more than 400 people in January, the day before his 74th birthday.

If you're suffering from depression, there is always someone to talk to and we urge anyone who feels they're suffering alone to seek help by visiting the Mind charity or by calling the Samaritans.
