While British singer Rita Ora has copped a lot of abuse online in the past two days, MMA champion Conor McGregor has also been dished his fair share of angry comments. It's all because of a set of photos uploaded to Rita's Instagram account of the pair sitting with each other at the British Fashion Awards with the caption saying, 'Date Night'.

People were quick to accuse the pair of cheating on their respective partners, while others went as far as claiming Conor shouldn't even be looking at another woman when he has a kid with long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin. But being the cheeky bloke who has never shied away from stirring the pot, McGregor has only fuelled the fire at his latest public appearance.

The 29-year-old was at London's Cirque Le Soir last night and managed to find a microphone. Out of everyone and everything that he could have said to the cheering crowd, he yelled: "Shout out to Rita Ora."

The comment was probably as tongue-in-cheek as Rita's 'Date Night' caption, but fans weren't impressed with either remark.

Janet wrote: "Date night with a married man? This a common thing for you, isn't it Hun."

Stephen added: "You've got a fine Irish steak at home mate. No need to ruin it with a McDonald's."

Zarny said: "She did it for attention, she knew she would start rumours doing it like this. She's not stupid, despite outward appearances. She got attention for it, just not the type she wanted."

However, there were also a few people telling everyone to chill the fuck out, including one who said: "Y'all are taking this way out of proportion. It's not just her fault. Yeah, she could have picked better pictures and the caption is a bit weird. But the words 'date night' doesn't specifically mean romantically."

Another wrote: "Y'all are acting like a male and a female cannot have a friendship without being sexual. Stop worrying about them and worry about your man who's probably over your best friend's house now watching a movie."

There is a reason why people are so quick to judge Rita Ora - and it's all to do with Beyoncé.

When the American singer dropped her album, Lemonade, she referred to 'Becky with the good hair' in the song, 'Sorry', alluding to someone whom her husband, Jay Z, cheated on her with.

Immediately, people started trying to find out who this mysterious 'Becky' was, and the masses settled on Rita. She tried to shut down the haters by writing on social media: "I never usually address tabloid gossip but, let me be clear, these rumours are false.

"I have nothing but the utmost respect for Beyonce. Let's continue enjoying Lemonade."

But comments like the one made by Conor last night certainly don't help to quash growing rumours.
