It's becoming more and more popular for sportsmen to jump ship and trade in their current profession for a stint of MMA.

Most notably, Brock Lesnar switched from WWE to the UFC, Kimbo Slice went from backyard fighting to UFC and Bellator, and CM Punk is preparing for his UFC debut, among a whole host of others trying their hands in the octagon.

One man who is seemingly trading his boxing gloves in for UFC's sparring gloves is none other than boxer Amir Kahn.

The last time we saw the 29-year-old in action, he was flat on his back after Saul Canelo Alvarez knocked him clean out, but since he has fuelled rumours of a fight with Conor McGregor.

Now, according to Amir's Instagram, his training to become an MMA fighter is underway.

In a recent interview with FloCombat, Khan addressed the fact that Floyd Mayweather would never step foot in the octagon to face Conor McGregor, whereas he would.

"I don't think Mayweather would want to fight under MMA rules," he said. "I'm a little different in that sense, where I would get into a cage and I would fight in MMA rules, so that's the difference between me and Mayweather.

"I would definitely give it a go. It's something to learn, as well. I'm at that age where I'm still learning, adapting and getting better. So I still have time under me as well. I'm still a young lad and got loads left in me."

As for taking on McGregor, Khan said he'd also be up for it as it'd be a test, but also a lot of hype for the media. Given the pair's friendship, however, it wouldn't be any kind of grudge match.

"It just depends on the weight category," he said. "But look, as a fighter, that's a fight I would take. McGregor is a massive name in MMA, and I'm a big name in boxing, so globally, I think it would be a massive fight.

"Sometimes, you have to put friendship aside and you have to take it in the cage or in the ring. But yeah, if that fight comes up to me, I'm not one to back away from it."

If this was to ever happen, there's no doubt it'd be explosive.

Make it happen, Dana.
