Massive shout out to taxi drivers in Edinburgh, who've managed to cash in on the summer's biggest craze by very first Pokémon Go Taxi Tour around the city.

As of today, the city's Central Taxi firm will help passengers track down Pokémon and not to leave the meter running, whilst they do it.

The company claims has discovered a route that will allow gamers to visit over 50 PokéStops and gyms in about 20 minutes journey time. They're only charging £15 for the journey which sounds like a decent price if you have some mates to split the fare with.

The concept was dreamed up by Cameron Herkes, Central's 18-year-old IT apprentice - who is apparently also really into hunting for Pokémon.

Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, he said: "It occurred to me when I was sitting in the office," Cameron said. "I play the game and catch them while sitting on the bus.

"I thought 'What if a driver took you through all the ideal spots?'. It's much safer getting a tour around the city than going off to more secluded areas.

"A lot of the taxi drivers didn't play the game but now they think it's a great idea."

It has been reported that the augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic is seeing about 21 million daily active users. Technology news website Techcruch has reported that the game makes a $1.6million daily revenue.

So the concept is likely to smash it.

Cameron added: "We drove around the city centre until we found the route where we could capture the most collectibles and keep the time to around 20 minutes and the fare around £15, which we thought was about right for a bit of fun and to get ahead in the Pokémon game world."

Fair play to the lad, hope the cabbies will buy you a pint or too for coming up with such a great idea.
