Every now and again, everyone starts going on about a show and, to be honest, I tend to ignore it. I did it with Breaking Bad, Lost and Game of Thrones. I just always assume it's going to be balls.
Inevitably, I then end up watching it and loving it. It's like a never-ending cycle of me missing out on conversations and not getting references until my stubborn nature eventually gives way and I binge-watch every episode ever made in an attempt to stay relevant. Plus, it's nice to stay ahead of the spoilers.

When you work in an office like theLADbible, you're going to hear spoilers. Whether that be through the person in the comment section ruining it for everyone or when you're given an article to write ABOUT a spoiler, or if someone mentions it in passing - these things happen.
So this time, when I started seeing everyone banging on about Stranger Things - I wasn't having any of it. I was straight on that shit. It came out on Netflix recently and I knew absolutely nothing about it when I sat down to digest the storyline.

Basically, it's like Signs meets E.T. which, granted, are very similar. It's got Winona Ryder in it as some kid's mum as well which I found especially odd. Especially when the last thing I saw her in was Beetlejuice.

Anyway, the basic premise of the show is that there's a load of kids in a 80s town in America and there's some really weird shit going on. A little boy goes missing - but is he really missing?! Then a little girl with a shaved head turns up and she has some Matilda-level psychic abilities.
There's also a Slenderman-looking bastard that I don't quite understand.
As you can probably tell from my vague descriptions, I don't want to give too much away. So here's the actual description: "This thrilling Netflix-original drama stars award-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 - inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences.
"When Joyce's 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl."

It's one of them for me... I'm not blown away by it at the moment - but I felt like that about Game of Thrones in the beginning. Stranger Things has an impressive 97% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so it's looking like those that have seen it have been blown away so far.
So, the only bit of advice I can give you is to check it out. Otherwise everyone's still going to be posting about it and you won't know what the fuck they're going on about.
