The Handmaid's Tale Season Three Teaser Trailer Dropped During Super Bowl 2019

If the Super Bowl wasn't really your thing, the 2019 advert breaks were at least littered with teasers for upcoming TV events - like when Hulu dropped a teaser trailer for the next series of The Handmaid's Tale.

Just when you thought things couldn't get any darker, it looks as though fans of the show could actually be in for a pretty twisted season three. Check it out here:

In the clip, Ronald Reagan's famous 'Morning in America' campaign ad can be heard, but with a dark twist.

The narrator of the trailer opens with: "It's morning again in America. Today, more women will go to work than ever before in our country's history. This year, dozens of children will be born to happy and healthy families. It's morning again."

But things aren't as positive as those words would have the viewer believe, as eventually Offred chimes in with: "Wake up, America. Morning's over."

At the end of season two, Offred - the show's protagonist, played by Elisabeth Moss - was forced to make the heartbreaking decision to leave her baby with a group of strangers.

This was to make sure the baby gets to safety in Canada while she heads back to the authoritarian regime of Gilead for her oldest child, Hannah. In the video it seems Offred made it back and is with her fellow handmaids once again.

Super Bowl 2019 saw a number of different adverts and trailers air during the breaks, as the New England Patriots went head to head with the Los Angeles Rams.

In previous years, full trailers for fan-favourite films have dropped, and this year was no different - with one being a new teaser for Marvel's hotly-anticipated Avengers: Endgame.

The new Endgame reveal felt ever-so-slightly more positive than the trailer released back in December, where we saw Tony Stark adrift in space and a broken Captain America trying to come to terms with losing half his team.

In the trailer, Earth's mightiest heroes can be seen coming together - the ones who weren't wiped out at the end of previous movie Infinity War - and it looks like they're finally joining forces to fight back against Thanos.

Fans were left with plenty of questions, like 'is Captain America taking his shield off and giving up?'

Marvel Studios has been careful to build up the hype ahead of the concluding chapter's release later this year - and both trailers have only used footage from the first 15 minutes of a film that could run to three hours long.

However, we do know it will be premiering on 25 April - with the Captain Marvel movie dropping in March as another origin story.

As for the Handmaid's Tale, viewers could have longer to wait - Hulu didn't provide a release date, simply offering the words 'coming soon'.
