Remember The Demon Headmaster? Of course you do, it's still the subject of your nightmares to this very day. Well, good news, those scaremonger merchants at the BBC have decided to reboot the television series.
The kids' TV show, adapted from the books by Gillian Cross, put the shits up an entire generation of teens and pre-teens between 1996 and 1998 with its tales of a school head who had gone completely and utterly rogue.
Not content with the sort of fear factor that usually comes with a headmaster, the big boss level of school bollockings for misbehaviour, the Demon Headmaster himself could go one step further courtesy of the scariest set of eyes to ever hit screens.
This renegade of the education system, who was played by Terrence Hardiman in the TV series, had a bunch of kids battling against him and his hypnotic powers. How did this ever get past Ofsted?
Anyway, 20 years since the Demon Headmaster's first reign of terror, the Beeb is bringing back the show based on a new book by Cross.
To bring the frightfest rollicking into the 21st Century, it's going to be based in an Academy school and the subject of sleepless nights for any kid who has ever missed a piece of homework will be a 'Super Head'.
The Beeb says the drama "follows a group of mismatched kids who discover their headmaster is using hypnotism to gain ultimate control of their school. But how can they fight an antagonist who manipulates their every move?"
If the headteacher is having to use hypnotism to 'control' the school, surely he's not up to the task?

Should we not be asking questions of the governors? An angry assembly about chewing gum on the downside of desks usually did the trick in the real world rather than having to go all Derren Brown on Year Nine.
Anyway, the BBC is going to be recreating sleepless nights through 10 episodes which will be 30 minutes in length and will be on CBBC and BBC iPlayer.
Scary bastard Hardiman told RadioTimes.com of the news that the Beeb are planning to ruin the lives of a fresh bunch of kids: "I have happy memories of working in The Demon Headmaster in the Nineties, and I wish every success to the new production. I expect to be totally hypnotised."
Sounds like a nice guy, actually. Loves a hypnotism joke. Must just be a good actor.
