The live action Rugrats movie we've been promised for over a year is now officially a thing and it's been confirmed that a director has even been found.

Variety reports that the man who will be bringing Chuckie and the crew to life is David Bowers, who also directed the likes of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, as well as animated films Astro Boy and Flushed Away.

Stockport born Bowers has the tricky task of making the gang look life-like in CGI form, but not creepy af. Not an easy job.

Last year, Variety reported that Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures confirmed there would be a relaunch of the franchise, with a 26-episode order from Nickelodeon.

Paramount has revealed that the release date will be 29 January 2021 and that David A. Goodman, the original script writer has jumped back on board.

All the original characters will be involved, including Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, but there'll also be a cast of new characters to get acquainted with.

The internet has reacted with mixed emotions at the overhaul of such a classic, with some made up, some not wanting the original to be tainted, and others, just overwhelmed by 2019's TV news.
