As we edge closer and closer to the end of 2017, many will be spending some time to reflect on the year that was. They might look at whether they upheld their New Year's resolution while others might reminisce about the holidays they took.

However, Netflix is reminding people how much TV they watched this year, just to let us know how sloth-like we've all become.

Out of all the statistics and figures that the streaming service has released, a few stand out for being particularly shocking. One in particular is the Canadian man or woman who managed to watch Lord of the Rings: Return of the King a whopping 361 times this year.

Just so we're clear, the third and final instalment to the LOTR franchise goes for a little more than three and a half hours (the extended edition edges past the four-hour mark). Don't get me wrong - it's a stunning piece of cinema history and worthy of watching a few times.

But three-hundred-and-sixty-one times?

In one year?

Seriously?

This person must really fucking love the franchise to watch it nearly every single day this year.

Another user managed to pull off a feat even more impressive than that by viewing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 365 days in a row. The streaming service has also revealed that another user has chucked The Bee Movie on 357 times this year.

Surely these users would know every single line and every single moment of these movies and might even be able to act out the whole thing from start to finish.

Another weird figure is a group of 53 people who have watched A Christmas Prince every day for the past 18 days. Netflix even called them out at the weekend and asked if everything's ok.

Not that we needed a reminder of how much we binge watch TV shows, but the service says we collectively watched a shocking 140 million hours of programmes every single day. Take a minute for that to set in.

That's a little more than a billion hours a week.

People took a particular liking to American Vandal, 3%, 13 Reasons Why, Anne with an E and Riverdale, with those being the top shows that we 'devoured', which Netflix defines as watching more than two hours per day.

If you've ever sat there after an hour or two, thinking you might have watched too many episodes, just realise that there are people out there viewing a lot more than you.

So sit back, relax and hit the button for 'Next Episode'.
