'Final Destination' Is Reportedly Getting A Reboot

A sixth movie will reportedly be a 're-imagining' of the previous flicks

Movie news lately has centred a lot around reboots, with a live-action Lion King, a comeback for Jay and Silent Bob and a Men in Black flick all planned for the near future.

The latest film to get the reboot treatment is reportedly Final Destination with Saw writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan tipped to be linked to the new project. So, we can assume there's going to be some pretty grisly death scenes then, yeah?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sixth instalment will be a 're-imagining' of the earlier movies, but, as yet, no further plot details have been released.

The Final Destination franchise was pretty bloody excellent and set many of us up for a lifetime of refusing to travel behind a truck carrying logs...but, like all good things, it had to come to an end and, after five films, the movie series ended.

Admittedly, some may say it went off for a little too long, but to those people I say, 'what's wrong with you? Don't you enjoy watching teens die in increasingly bizarre scenarios?'

But now it looks as though a whole new generation is set to have an irrational fear of flying wrenches to the face, plate glass windows falling from the sky and being burnt to a crisp on a tanning bed. Excellent.

Speaking to Bloody Disgusting recently Tony Todd, who appeared in a number of the movies, reckons he knows why there hasn't been a sixth made.

He told the news outlet that while he was 'surprised' there hadn't been another sequel, he thought that he 'knows why'.

"It's really an expensive film to shoot," he said.

"Just getting whatever accident set pieces, like for example part two with the whole traffic accident, that took a good five weeks to shoot and at least 20 million bucks. So, there are other films like the Annabelle films which just focuses on a doll that they can shoot for a lot cheaper and still make money."

However, he also added: "I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed but who knows? You never know. It was a good one while we had it."

The Final Destination movies actually turned in a pretty decent profit, with the franchise earning a very impressive $700million (£544m) at the box office

Seems like the perfect time for a reboot to me.
