Donald Glover Might Get His Own 'Star Wars' Film One Day

Whatever you've been up to these past few months, you've probably heard something about whatever it is that Donald Glover is up to.

He's got the number one song in America, he's hosted Saturday Night Live, he's released the hilarious second season of Atlanta, and now, he's starred in Solo: A Star Wars Story as Lando Calrissian.

Well, his widespread popularity hasn't gone unnoticed it seems. It was earlier thought that Lucasfilm's president Kathleen Kennedy had revealed that the next Star Wars spin-off would be entirely dedicated to telling the story of Lando.

However, this now looks like it might have been a misunderstanding. Since those articles went out (and the internet went crazy about it) they have rowed back significantly and released a statement saying that the quote was mistranslated.

What it seems like she actually said was more like: "We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant, it would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie,"

Fair enough, but that still leaves the door firmly open to a future Lando film. And let's not forget, he's still in the story with Han and Chewie, so fans can get their Donald Glover fix without him needing to star in the film.

The actual star of the latest story in the Star Wars saga (although it's not technically part of the saga) tells the story of Han Solo, the tousled haired nerf herder who made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs, and he is played in this flick by Alden Ehrenreich.

He's signed up for another two films, but his performances haven't exactly been wowing the critics so far. To be fair, a lot of them have dined out on the fact that he is not Harrison Ford, but who is? Give the guy a chance for God's sake.

On the other hand, they can't shut up about Glover. The reviewers have been overwhelmingly positive about his turn, so perhaps they should reconsider waiting to capitalise on his popularity.

If you want to go and see the film, it's out in the UK next Friday.
