Have Faith In The NHS As Doctor Gets Medical Question Wrong On 'The Chase'

Have Faith In The NHS As Doctor Gets Medical Question Wrong On 'The Chase'

What’s up, doc? Errr, don’t know.

Gameshow quizzes are a lot of pressure; the bright lights, the cameras, the speeding clock as you try and come up with the right answer. And if there's money involved...even more stress!

You would have thought a medical doctor would be used to high pressure situations and big stakes, but when Euen went on The Chase, his medical knowledge abandoned him - it just flew out the window, as you can see!

"The pituitary gland is located on the underside of which organ?" asked host Bradley Walsh.

Dr Euen replied: "The neck."

I didn't realise the neck is an organ. Seriously, though, that's GCSE biology stuff there - even I knew that.

The Glaswegian had just finished his medical degree, which took six years and apparently didn't cover the most important gland in the body.

Euen tried to convince everyone he had heard "thyroid" instead of "pituitary" ...but a neck is still not an organ.

Poor Euen. I feel for him - but I still wouldn't take any medicine he prescribed!

This reminds me of another epic fail when it comes to science questions.

Eamonn Holmes, on the National Lottery, asked: "There are three states of matter: solid, liquid and . . ?"

And the contestant replied: "Jelly."

Ah ha ha ha. Muppet. Although I do love jelly.

But you've got to love The Chase. And who could forget 'Gobbler's Knob'? Bradley found it hilarious every time.

"Gobbler's Knob goes quite well with Grumpy Old Men, don't it?" said the contestant, as the host has tears in his eye.

It happens to the best of us, however, I'd draw the line at breaking a chair and then letting one rip! It could be you, but you would hold it in on TV, wouldn't you?

In fact, Bradley finds pretty much anything piss-funny. A bird expert chooses his answer and then tells a story about giant vultures who kill their prey - tortoises - by dropping them from a great height onto stones. A man was killed once because a vulture mistook his shiny, bald head for a stone - epic!

Bradley got the giggles again over some terrible German euphemisms. I'm fairly certain that no cartoon character, even in Europe, has ever been called "Dick Tingler".

Who's writing the questions for this show?
