A Star is Born has won itself the Original Music BAFTA at tonight's awards ceremony.

The accolade was specifically awarded to Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga and Lukas Nelson, who beat BlacKkKlansman's Terence Blanchard, If Beale Street Could Talk's Nicholas Britell, Isle of Dogs' Alexandre Desplat and Mary Poppin's Returns' Marc Shaiman.

Cooper appeared on stage to collect the award, referring to the music as the 'heartbeat' of the film.

Recently the movie also won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for its hit 'Shallow', having also been nominated for a further four awards - Best Actor, Picture, Actress and Director.

Producer Mark Ronson accepted the award with the some of the cast on stage, telling the audience, but mainly Lady Gaga: "The genius comes from you."

Gaga added: "As a woman in music it is really hard to be taken seriously as a musician and songwriter. These three men lifted me up."

The musical drama is the third remake of the original 1937 flick, having been previously adapted for a 1954 musical starring Judy Garland and James Mason and the subsequent 1976 rock musical with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

It's been a hit with audiences worldwide, with many praising lead stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga for their incredible performances as musician Jackson Maine - who also suffers from alcoholism - and aspiring singer Ally.

Cooper, who's also the director, producer and screenwriter of A Star is Born told LADbible last year that working on the film was one of the greatest experiences he'd had.

He said: "It was one of the great experiences artistically I've ever had, and oddly natural. I had the privilege of working with so many great artists in this film."

Gaga, meanwhile, has previously spoken out about how grateful she was to Cooper for giving her a chance in the film, having said he was the one person that believed in her..

During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, she said: "Once I heard Bradley sing, I was blown away by him, I was moved by his passion. He may have had to convince other people to have me in the movie but, he didn't have to convince me."
