If you're only just waking up you might not yet know but Rami Malek scooped the prestigious award for Best Actor at this year's Oscars following his performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

In his powerful acceptance speech, which saw him honour his immigrant parents, he thanked Queen saying he was 'forever in their debt', before turning to his girlfriend and co-star, Lucy Boynton, telling her she had 'captured his heart' - then he went and topped it all off with a tumble off stage.

Paramedics working at the 91st Academy Awards rushed to the 37-year-old actor's side after he fell off the stage after collecting his gong.

According to the Mirror, he was plonked on a stage-side seat to be seen by two paramedics with medical equipment, just what you want after one of the biggest moments of your life, right?

Malek did his best to hold on to his golden award but as he hit the ground he looked surprised and was helped by the people around him. Way to ruin the cool vibes.

In due course, a (probably) relieved Rami went and joined the audience once again and also went to the press room to pose for pictures and chat to the media.

The actor won Best Actor for his portrayal of Queen front-man Freddie Mercury in the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

And we're a little worried for his mantle piece which might be running out of space given that he's already won a BAFTA and Golden Globe for best actor - making the overnight win a rather lovely hat-trick.

In his adorable speech Rami started by honouring his mum: "Oh my God, my mum is in here somewhere. Oh I love you, I love you lady. My family, thank you for all of this.

"You know, my dad didn't get to see me do any of this but I think he's looking down on me right now. This is a monumental moment, one I'm so appreciative to all of you, to everyone who has had a hand in getting me here."

Then went on to address Queen saying: "Thank you guys for allowing me to be the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy, I am forever in your debt."

Brian May watched on in delight as Rami Malek accepted his award for Best Actor.

He then reflected on what his younger self would make of the success: "I think about what it would have been like to tell little bubba Rami that one day this might happen to him and I think his curly haired little mind would be blown.

"That kid was struggling with his identity, trying to figure himself out and I think, to anyone struggling with theirs and trying to discover their voice, listen: we made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself and the fact that I'm celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we're longing for stories like this."

What a incredible LAD - fall and all.
