James McAvoy Reveals He Shaved His Balls With His Granddad's Razor

James McAvoy Reveals He Shaved His Balls With His Granddad's Razor

He recalled the bloody encounter on front of an audience on 'The Graham Norton Show' - with his granddad present

Sharing razorblades for shaving, eh? We've all been there and you're a liar if you say you haven't. Hell, even Peter Kay joked about his mum using his Mach3 Turbo.

But there are some things we would rather not know about. In fact, it's more a case of we don't need to know about them.

James McAvoy's granddad is the one I feel sorry for. He's the poor old soul whose razor was used by his beloved grandson... who used it to shave his balls.

And, adding insult to injury, the 39-year-old actor recalled the entire encounter on The Graham Norton Show with his grandparents in the audience proudly watching on.

McAvoy was promoting his upcoming film Glass alongside Sarah Paulson - who was clearly taken aback by his admission. Richard E. Grant was also a guest on the show and spoke about the upcoming Star Wars film.

It was pointed out that recent roles have seen McAvoy playing bald characters, to which he responded: "I'm very smooth a lot of the time," before suggesting that the hair (on his head) is beginning to recede.

But there were, of course, more interesting matters to be dealt with... like his pubes. Host of the show Graham Norton asked the question many wouldn't: "How old were you when you used your grandfather's razor?"

Something tells me he had some inside info.

Instead of brushing over it like the majority of us would, to save ourselves from any form of humiliation, McAvoy ran with it and actually addressed his granddad in the audience. Which would be super cute, had he not been talking about shaving his balls and that.

The looks on the other guests' faces say it all:

And his grandparents came a close second on the reaction-o-meter:

And off he went, explaining: "I think I might have been about 12 or 13. No, I was younger than that, I was getting pubes."

He added: "I basically got enough of them that I thought, 'I don't know if I want this for my future.' So, I was bored one day and I saw my granddad's razor and I thought, 'I'll have a bang at that.'

"I started shaving them off, I did it badly and I stopped quickly and I cut myself a little bit."

At which point, rather bizarrely, Sarah Paulson chimes in: "Yeah, you were bleeding." Was she there?

McAvoy continued: "So I got some tissue, and I dabbed it and there was blood on it, I chucked it in the toilet, cleaned everything up and went up the stairs."

His grandparents then shouted him to go downstairs, before asking whether he was ok, repeatedly - turned out they had seen blood in the toilet and on his granddad's razor.

Busted.

Worried about his well-being, they asked to see his wrists, coming to the conclusion he had been attempting to self-harm - which was the point McAvoy had to tell them he was shaving his balls.

Moral of the story: always flush.
