It's 'awards season' and it seems like no matter where you look, actors are being honoured for their roles in show business. For these people, it's a massive moment in their lives.
However, in America at the moment there's much bigger things going on. The country is divided in terms of the new President's latest decisions. These actors know that millions of people will be watching their acceptance speeches, so many have decided to use this platform to get across their own political stance.
Two examples of this came last night during the 23rd Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG Awards).

Ashton Kutcher took to the stage after being introduced by Kerry Washington, who said: "A lot of people right now are saying that actors shouldn't express their opinions when it comes to politics, but the truth is that actors are activists no matter what because we embody the worth and humanity of all people."

He followed up her sentiment with: "Good evening, fellow SAG-AFTRA members, and everyone at home, and everyone in airports that belong in my America.
"You are a part of the fabric of who we are. And we love you and we welcome you."

Another speech that blew people away came from the unlikely source of Stranger Things' David Harbour, who plays Chief Jim Hopper.
He and the rest of the cast took to the stage to accept the award for best ensemble in a drama series. He said: "This award from you who take your craft seriously and earnestly believe, like me, that great acting can change the world, is a call to arms from the great men and women to go deeper and through our art battle fear, self-centerdness, and exclusivity of our predominantly narcissistic culture and through our craft to develop a more empathetic and understanding society."

He added: "We 1983 midwesterners will repel bullies. We will shelter freaks and outcasts and those who have no home. We will get past the lies. We will hunt monsters. And when we are at a loss against the hypocrisy and casual violence of certain individuals and institutions, we will - as per Chief Jim Hopper - punch some people in the face."
Winona Ryder is stood next to him throughout and seems quite shocked by his political speech. To be fair, she expresses about 15 different emotions throughout... if you watch the above video you'll see what I mean.
However, the rest of the cast and the whole of the room exploded into applause after he finished.
