Conor McGregor has revealed he's been building several houses designated for families 'without a home to call their own'.

In a post on social media post, he said he was building a total of eight homes for those in need, and shared photos of the build coming along nicely.

McGregor wrote: "Back on the site today, it has been a while.

"This is my first property development. We have 8 homes here closing in on finish.

"3 bedroom houses, designated for families that currently reside in hotels around the capital, without a home to call their own. But not for long. Through the storm comes the sun!

"Walking around this land and these homes today, meeting all the neighbors, knowing that soon there will be families living here, creating their own memories, and building back their lives, gives me great pride!

"Ireland forever! Ireland first! Ireland always!"

McGregor said the experience has given him 'great pride'.

Earlier this year, McGregor announced his retirement from MMA, saying: "Hey guys quick announcement, I've decided to retire from the sport formally known as 'Mixed Martial Arts' today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.

"I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"

But a week later, it looked as though he'd had a change of heart, having tweeted 'See you in the Octagon'.

But whether he's actually retired or not, it looks as though he's got plenty going on to keep himself busy - not least this new housing development, which has won back many of his fans.

Many social media users were impressed by what they saw, with one commenting: "That's amazing! What a great way to give back."

Someone else said: "It's nice to see a sportsman with a new found wealth remembering where he came from and doing good for others."

Another wrote: "YOU FREAKIN ROCK MAN!! Brings tears to my eyes! What a humbling experience for all that are involved! That's truly an amazing gift."

A fourth added: "This is lovely! The best a human being can ever do for others. All the haters and doubters who talk shit about Conor McGregor can never understand what wonderful accomplishments he's had in just 30 years of life. I respect and admire all your endeavors, Conor!!"

However, there were some people who were feeling a little more dubious about the development, with one asking: "Are you donating them Conor or are you selling them or renting them for personal gain?"

Others even took the opportunity to ask for jobs.

One opportunistic Facebooker said: "How do I get a scaffolding job on one of Connor's sites??"

God loves a trier, eh?
