Politicians are criticised for being detached from the real world and not getting their hands dirty in issues that matter.
Well, Australian Independent politician Jeremy Buckingham found out the hard way what happens when you get your hands really dirty.
Poor Jezza.
All he wanted to do was raise awareness for the dying fish in the Murray Darling River and he ended up violently vomiting off stage left.
The beauty of the video is the two other blokes, local farmers Dick Arnold and Rob McBride, pick up immediately where Jeremy left off while their mate sounds like he's in genuine pain in the background.
Before Jeremy nearly pukes his guts up, he tells the camera: "Australia, you need to hang your head in shame. Look at this."
You could see his face saying that he'd prefer to be anywhere else than holding the dead fish, which is one of millions killed by a devastating algal bloom event.
Jeremy added on Facebook: "I couldn't finish this video because I was involuntarily retching from the smell. It was one of the most disgusting experiences of my life. I felt so sick that I panicked and jumped in the river to escape it - as bad as it is!
"The overwhelming stench from millions of dead fish floating in the Darling River at Menindee is grotesque.
"A lack of water in the Darlin River and the Menindee Lakes means that authorities were unable to flush the system before millions of fish suffocated through a lack of oxygen in water.
"This mass fish kill should be a wake up call for Australia. For too long, politicians have shifted blame from one another and pretended they can fix the policy without the fundamental issue of returning more water to our natural waterways and wetlands.
"We've spent decades and $13 billion only to end up with ecological tragedy in our rivers."
While no one takes delight in another person's suffering (well, some people do I guess) it's hard not to laugh at the moment Buckingham drops the fish and runs. The fact that he jumped in the river that's causing this mass death to escape the smell is saying something.
It's made even better when one of the farmers says the river is 'radio-fucking-active'.
After seeing the video, NSW Primary Industries and Regional Water Minister Niall Blair released a statement saying: "It's devastating to see the hundreds of thousands of fish killed earlier this week and we believe this is one of the largest fish kills ever seen."
RIP fish and Jeremy's guts.
