Well, well, well, what have we here? Sorry, I couldn't not make that joke, could I? This is the story of one man, one well and a burning desire to find out what might be lurking under his house.
Colin Steer and his wife Vanessa, both 67, moved into their dream home in Plymouth back in the 1980s but were shocked to find a well in their living room - as you would be.
As the couple had young children at the time they thought the best thing to do would be to cover it up, but now the kids are grown and Colin has retired, he's been doing a bit of digging and has finally hit water.

Since his retirement, Colin has managed to dig down 17ft and 3ft across. He now thinks it gets wider the further down he goes.
"There was a depression in the floor," Colin said. "I thought someone was buried under there that there was a hole.
"I dug down and found the wall of a well. The hole was full of earth, but with the help of a neighbour, we have managed to get about 17ft deep.
"I always wanted to dig it out to see if I could find a pot of gold at the bottom, so when I retired that's what I did.

"I was quite surprised really, I would have preferred it to be in the garden where I could have got at it a little easier."
Colin, a former civil servant, has been using a ladder and pulley-system for his home-excavation work and says it only took him about six months to get to the depth it is now.
Describing his living-room well, Colin added: "We think it's a bottle well. It's 30 inches wide now and could go down another 5-6ft.
"I thought I'd found a sword around 4ft down - it was a wooden thing that must have had a leather sheath on it as you can see stitch holes. That's why I want to get to the bottom. Who knows what's down there.

"We have no idea when it was built. There could have been a couple of cottages here or it could have served a farm.
"I'd like to find something down the bottom, something to give me an age.
"I wish I had a TARDIS to go back in time and see what was here."
Not what I'd use time travel for, but each to their own.

Our man Colin has a habit for digging things up, it turns out - back in 2012 he was doing some work in his garden when he came across two German incendiary devices with his shovel.
A bomb disposal team were called and the devices were taken away to be safely disposed of.
Now, Colin is focused on finding out what is beneath his house and seems content to carry on digging.
