Margot Robbie's Body Double Shares Her Fitness Routine

Monday motivation.

I don't know about you guys but finding the motivation to go the gym after, or before, work is part of the battle, but then I suppose when your job is being a body-double for Margot Robbie things are a bit different.

Canadian Sarah Scotford is a body double, fitness model, actor and stunt performer. So, fitness isn't just a part of Sarah's life - it's basically her job.

Speaking to TheLADbible Sarah said: "Initially I wanted to be a plastic surgeon - but then I was drawn to a career in TV and film. I've always been into health and fitness, though, I think part of that is down to my dad, Chris.

"He was from the UK and he played rugby for Solihull; he actually held a Guinness World Record after he scored seven tries, one penalty and five conversions - a total of 41 points - in a game between Solihull and Esher on December 14,1974.

"So, he was always working out at home in a make shift gym he built and I liked working out with him when I was younger. Sadly, he's passed away now, but I think I got my discipline of staying in shape from him.

"I sort of got into the body double work by accident. I had done a couple of acting jobs and my friend contacted me saying he was working on a new TV show and they were looking for a body double for Piper Perabo. He thought I would be perfect for it, so I went a long, had a screen test and got the job.

"I worked on that show for four years. I also did some stunts on that show, which I loved doing because stunt work is just so fun - I have an older brother, so I'm used to doing stupid shit and hurting myself!"

When working as a body-double, naturally, it's important that Sarah doesn't lose or gain weight, which for a film isn't such a long-term commitment but when working on a TV show for four years it requires a lot of work.

"I don't like denying myself food. I wish I could be the sort of the person who has the willpower to say 'no' to unhealthy food, but I'm really not. I mean, I know I can't pig out - it's a sort of 'all things in moderation' attitude.

"I keep in shape mainly using high intensity interval training (HIIT) this works so much better for me, because it's quick and involves a lot of variety - I can't think of anything worse than just slogging away on a treadmill for hours on end.

"So, a typical workout for me would be: 45 seconds work followed by 15 second rest and I would do three rounds of burpees, Russian twists, push ups, plank jacks, squat jumps, lunges, skater jumps, reverse crunches, triceps dips and bridge ups."

As well as her body double and stunt work, Sarah is also a fitness model. She believes there's more of a refreshing turn in the industry towards 'fit' models, rather than the super skinny ones we've seen in the past. She said: "I've been in the industry for ten years, I started out doing bikini and glamour modelling and then made the move into fitness modelling. There's definitely more call for women who look strong and healthy now, rather than stick-thin, you can see that everywhere you look."

Although her career is hard and demanding that doesn't mean it doesn't have it perks: hanging out with stars, travelling the world and working with some of the biggest names in the film industry, sound like fun to you?

Sarah told us: "Working on the Suicide Squad was so much fun, it was pretty full-on and we all became pretty close. It's a great industry to work in, it's sort of work-hard/play-hard.

"So, once filming was wrapped a bunch of us, including Margot and Jay Hernandez, got together for a golf tournament. It was fun; just getting smashed in the middle of a golf course and firing water pistols at each other.

"And Will Smith set up a huge tent for the cast and crew to come together and hang out. It was really important to him that all of us working on the film had somewhere to come and chill out. You really do need that time and space to chill."

Sounds pretty cool to me.
