This story should make you feel about 500 times better about the fact that it's Monday.
I don't want to oversell it, but it involves a hero dog who wouldn't be out of place in a movie, an adorable family and a happy ending. Ready? Let's go.
So Hero was a stray dog on the streets of Baldwin, Michegan. On July 22, he saw a woman being attacked by a man with a knife. Jumping to her rescue, he was stabbed five times.
He managed to save the woman but he was left for dead. A pair of police officers found him and took him to a local vets, according to the Daily Mail.

Timothy Clay, one of the police officers who helped Hero, told WATE.com: "I don't think we could have let that dog suffer and die. We felt like we needed to get that dog some help after what it had been through."
Apparently, Hero's gums were white, which meant that almost all of his blood was gone due to the attack.
This is where Fighting for the Bullys comes in. They're a pit bull rescue operation who heard about Hero's story and managed to raise funds to pay for his medical bills.

The founder and director, Calra Welch, told Inside Edition: "For those two officers to go to the extent they did to save him is very heroic and very awesome."
Speaking about Hero, she said: "He has had a really rough life. He has had a bum back leg and a bum front leg, but he gets around fine and he's looking for a good friend."

Not long after, a new family was found.

Sara Simpson and her partner adopted Hero. They are already the proud owners of two other dogs, Leia and Rocky. Writing on Facebook, she said: "We are so so blessed by his spirit already. He is a wonderful dog and this was such a blessing to happen to us.
"He is fitting right in and even loves playing with our little Leia. Rocky is still the guardian. I will say though... Hero loves sleeping with his momma all night. He's just precious. He loves to talk and go on short walks (it hurts him otherwise). He's just wonderful."

Sara is now encouraging others to adopt dogs. She said: "Don't buy from breeders or shops.
"So so so many animals out there need loving homes."
What an incredible story.
