This is the story of Bubba, a seven-month-old terrier mix who has beaten a heroin and meth addiction and has finally found love with a new family.
Bubba was found by animal rescue workers in a hotel room in Tustin, California, lying cold, lethargic and listless in the corner.
Lt. Brian Frick, a supervising animal control officer, told the OC Register: "I walked in and saw all these drugs on the ground.
"I said, 'where's the dog?' and walked round the corner and saw him lying listless. He was cold and lethargic. I thought it was just he'd been taken from his mum too soon. I never suspected he may have gotten into drugs."
Whether Bubba ingested or inhaled the fumes is still unclear but he tested positive for methamphetamines and heroin after initial tests at the Orange County Animal Care.

But after four hard months, Bubba's test came back clear for the very first time.
A diet of fluids and healthy foods and regular care has seen Bubba fully recover and he has since been adopted by an anonymous couple.
Now Bubba can enjoy a future full of love with a family that cares about him.

His previous owner, 40-year-old Joshua West, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, heroin and drug paraphernalia.
